Of course l am female but l would like to learn football in the shortest amount of time possible. l watched the Raiders beat the Titans the other night and it was a great game. l love the Raiders. l still have a hard time understanding the language though. l wanna learn it so that when l watch it with my boyfriend l will not be so bored. Let me give u the gist. 1st , the Raiders r cheating pansies.
2nd, the game is played in 4 quarters with a break at 1/2 time.
3rd, there is a 2 minute warning before 1/2 time & end of game.
4th, at the beginning of the game, a coin is flipped & the winner gets to choose to kick off or receive. This switches after 1/2 time.
5th, the object, other than scoring & winning, is to move the ball at least 10 yards. You r given 3 tries to do this. If u fail u still have a fourth down to usually punt or in rare occasions, going for it. If u do elect to go for it & fail. The other team gets the ball at that location. If u succeed in going 10 yrds or more on the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd down then u get to start over at 1st down.
6th, Plays, There r dozens of different types of plays but they boil down to running & passing. The coach or quarterback calls the plays. In running plays, most often the ball is given to one guy behind the quarterback & he is known as a running back. Their r historical running backs like Emmit Smith, etc. etc. For passing plays the quarterback throws to wide receivers or tight ends. There r some significant rules to passing such as, pass interference (this can be on the offense or defense), incomplete pass, as well as eligible & ineligible receivers.
7th, there is a front line to protect the quarterback or give windows of opportunity for running backs. Here the biggest rules r offsides & holding penalties.
8th, last in a nutshell, when ur team can not score in downs, u bring out the field goal kicker. Hope this helps a little. As a roockie u should learn at least a few of the quarterbacks names & what team they play for.

Like u l do not need anything heavy nothing to do with M or F
2 teams A & B the teams r made up of basically a defence formation & an attack formation
A is allowed to attack first so as in rugby the opposing team in this instance B kicks off into the opponents half
So A field the ball so they r the attacking side
attack is coordinated by the quarter back (he is the guy who receives the ball from the start line or place)
the attacking side has to gain 10 Mt is / 3 goes to advance having attained 10 mts they then have another go & so on until they score the ultimate which is a touchdown (which is the ball breaking the plain of a line deemed to be the beginning of the touch down area)

Meantime in our case team B have to try to stop the attacking team gaining 10 mts so they can be the attacking team if they can stop the attacking team say 3 to 4 mts from the 10 mtre line then the attacking team usually punt (kick the ball as far downfield as they can into the opposing teams half & then they r the denders so they then bring on there defence team)
l know it seems quite involved but at the end of the day it is 2 teams
1 trying to score points the other trying to stop them
