You can not blame Manchester City for where the game of soccer (football) is today. Man City is just taking it to the next level.

Soccer (Football) is no longer the game it use to be. It is all about MONEY. If a club has MONEY they are on top of the world. Man City is sick of being the laughing stock of Manchester and the EPL. They want to compete. So MONEY is no object to them at this point.

its been obvious for a long time, predating the EPL that English soccer was not the desired level playing field.

The last time it was truly about players & clubs was probably around the time Nottingham Forest were doing well.

since then, with the advent of the 'Champions' League & EPL the disparity between the top 4..6 teams in the EPL & the rest is enormous. the reason.. money. for many years ManUre is net profit was higher than many EPL/ original DIv1 TURNOVER.

the disparity has just got worse, with the top teams effectively dictating terms to the rest, theres money for when ur tema is on TV, money for where u finish.if u r in UEFA events, theres money for that.

what Man City r doing is readdresing that blanace. they have not got the money through finishg places. but htye have been on TV a lot more this year than previous years. In part that is becuase they r in the UEFA league by the back door (again), but as thats on FIVE it probably wont earn that much money. In part thats becuase they bough Robinho.

If they do buy in some more world class players the TV companies will continue to cover city matches.

l forget the details but it was something like 10.20 matches into the season before Man City had a games starting at 15:00 on a Saturday.

Im a City fan, & l remain tobe convinced that KAKA is a good buy for whatever is being metioned, why
because of the cost (its going to put a huge amount of pressure on Mark Hughes & his team
it could destablise the team, it could make the team lazy.. just leave it to KAKA & Robinho
it could make other players greedy.. remember the Ashley Cole they were only going to pay me £50,000 a week.. l expet a lot more hands to be stuck out demanding more.

the real issue for city is that they have to change players (and their agents) mindset. if they can get one of two headline grabbing players it may then encourage others to come. at present their is a credibility gap with City languishing near relegation, or though in reality l do not think anyone outside the top 5 can genuinely say they r safe or looking safe.

Still its a heartening though that every time a brain dead red supporter fills up his 4WD a little of that money is going to fund city

Man City have not destroyed the image of football. they have the money to buy Kaka and im sure not only me but many many EPL fans would love to see Kaka in the EPL. yes its a lot of money but Man City are in a slump and if they assume that buying ONE player can get them out of it then they should go for it. l agree its a lot of money and they could buy many more but l personally would love to see the flair of Kaka in Man City colours.

OK, so the more-money-means-more-success system that has been nursed & generated in soccer for years is all Man City is fault, l dont think so. l suppose the top four just have better systems, thei success is nothing to do with money :P In soccer, u buy ur premierships, that is the way it is. It is the reason the top four never change.system:
Good team = more sponsors + more bandwagon fans (liverpool/man u fans in particular) = more money = buy more good players = still an elite team. <>

l do not mind when players like Kaka earn good money, but when u earn, sorry nobody earns that much, gets a pay check fir 550,000 euro a WEEK more than 25 million a year, l think, that the football world had gone crazy. l am Dutch, but lived in England for 10 years, l follow english football on Sport 1, l can see all matches live.on 8 stations.
But english football with 90 % non english players is that still english football. The national team did not qualify, because there r not enough english players good enough any more .
l agree as far as l am concerned they can end up in the 2nd division.
