a number of football clubs are now in the ownership of foreign business
multimillionaires who are now throwing transfer money around like confetti.It is only benefiting a few clubs and leaving the rest as also rans.Should this not be stopped before its too late?

Football used to be about the local lads from one town playing the next town, but then the money men got involved,whoever had the most money could buy whatever player from any town then any country, The players don`t seem loyal to their team, they just want the biggest pay packet, they`re not hungry for the glory of winning for their team it`s only about money.

The sad thing it is not just soccer (football). Everything in this world has changed. If you do not adapt to those changes then you will be left in the dust.

The sport has changed. It is time to accept what the sport has become or do not support the sport at all. It will never go back to the way it was before, those days are long gone!!!!!

Big Chief agree - transfer situation in England getting absurd. This cannot last - the same happened in Italy, where most clubs r either bankrupt or close to it, & to a lesser degree in Spain. Football clubs seem to be the 'in' thing to own if u have money coming out of ur ears. A very expensive poodle. Long term, the credit crunch will affect football directly, as the revenue is generated in the main from people paying to watch it. When it impacts, l suspect many clubs will be devestated by it, & will face financial ruin. Old firm bias aside, surely a club like Birmingham should never be in a position to plunder players from clubs the size & stature of Rangers ? l see Portsmouth r supposedly interested in Scott McDonald. Ordinary players r moving clubs in England for 6,7,8 million. Anyone even mildly talented is fetching 8 figures easily. It cant & wont last.

The package Man City r reportedly offering Kaka is insane. It seems unbeleiveable that a mere 20 years ago established English international players were leaving the English top flight to play in Scotland.

My prediction is that the erse will fall out of the English market within 2 years, many clubs will be devestated, then things will return to some sort of normality. Outside of maybe Man U, Liverpool & Arsenal, none of the English teams have anywhere near the tradition or stature of either of the old firm. l have excluded Chelsea because even after spending hundereds of millions, what have they won ? A couple of league titles.

So a definite yes from me, the current financial situation & transfer fees generated as a result, r ruining football. Thankfully, not for long.

Great question and l could not agree more. Deals like the potential transfer of Kaka are lunacy as it pushes up wages and transfer fees of every player and you get insane amounts paid to average players like Lucas Neil (70k pw) and Scott Parker (offered 100k pw). These guys will have fun for a while but happens if they achieve everything in say 5 years, boredom will kick and and clubs will be left crippled or disappear due to debt. Football cant continue like this.

People are singling out Manchester City, but it was started a fair few years ago with teams like Manchester United.

l agree that the transfer fees are killing off the chances of smaller teams, but people should not single out Manchester City for it.

l guess your are talking about teams like Man City. l think the best thing to do is just focus on how you're team is doing. You should look on the bright side and see that this will make more compitition in the premier league.

its the spl its a disgrace,we need at least a 16 team league to make it more invest able . they do nothing to bring in any decent money sponsors other than tv rights .instead they just think up new things to fine teams for and make it more difficult to expand or even get by.

Makes you wonder how football manages to make money & offer these crazy transfer fees & wages when the rest of the world is falling apart finacially.
